Itinerary

Is this right for me? :
What to Expect

This project is the perfect fit if you enjoy working with kids and want to team up with other people to support a local community. It’s one of our Team Trips, where we run a project on fixed dates so individuals from around the world can come together to form a group. Together, you and your group will become part of our ongoing efforts to improve early childhood education at disadvantaged care centres. It’s a great way to make a difference while meeting new people.

You don’t have to worry about organising anything in Cambodia, as you’ll follow an itinerary. From the moment you arrive at the airport in Phnom Penh, we’ll plan everything. You and your group will have a full schedule of volunteer work, cultural and social activities, and a weekend trip. You’ll visit the Killing Fields, Wat Phnom, Angkor Wat, and more.

You don’t need any previous experience to join, as you’ll be working alongside teachers and caregivers. Projects Abroad staff are also there to help and guide you if you need it. Not only will you be helping, you’ll also gain childcare experience and develop your personal skills.

This trip runs on fixed dates throughout the year for two weeks at a time. You can choose the dates which fit your schedule best. Then, all you need to do is sign-up!

Childcare Volunteer :
Typical Day

Your group will work at a daycare centre for children in Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s capital. The care centres we work with are in rural areas, where most families are severely disadvantaged. Most importantly, these centres give children a safe space to learn and grow during the day. In turn, this gives their parents the opportunity to seek full-time employment, so they can support their families.

When you’re not volunteering, you’ll explore Cambodia with your group and Projects Abroad staff at your side. Each night, you will return to a guesthouse or hotel with your group.

Aims of program :
Childcare Volunteer

The aim of this project is to bring like-minded people together to help support early childhood education in Cambodia.

With Cambodia’s harrowing history of war and genocide, many communities have yet to recover. Although Phnom Penh is rapidly developing, many people still live in poverty. Most are unable to afford even a basic education.

Along with our partner, the Khemara Organisation, and other NGOs, we are working to improve the standard of care and learning children receive. We support the schools and care centres run by our partners, both financially and by sending volunteers like you to help. The care centres also provide opportunities for the children’s parents to focus on work without worrying about their children.

By teaming up with other volunteers, you’ll encourage children to learn and give them the skills they need to thrive when they start school. As a group, you’ll also be able to do a lot of renovation work in a short period of time. The results of your work will benefit the care centre for years after your group leaves.

Join our Childcare & Community Work Team Trip in Cambodia and help us work towards our long-term goals to help disadvantaged children.

Food and Accomodation
