Learn Spanish :
What to Expect

Have you always wanted to learn Spanish? Do you dream of exploring new places and learning about different ways of life? If so, our Spanish Language Course in Argentina is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.

Speaking Spanish is a useful skill to add to your CV, and learning it abroad will demonstrate your adaptability. It will help you stand out in applications and interviews, which could help your future career.

You’ll have Spanish classes with a professional teacher, and you’ll have the chance to practice what you learn each day with your host family and other local native speakers.

You don’t need any previous knowledge of Spanish to join this course, as lessons are tailored to your level and specific interests. Our Spanish Language Course in Argentina runs all year round, and you can join at any time from a minimum of one week.

You also have the option of taking this course as an add-on, combining it with a volunteer or internship programme. This is a useful way to brush up on your skills if Spanish is a requirement for the project you want to do. For example, if you want to do a medical internship in Argentina, your teacher can focus on teaching you medical Spanish, and improving your conversation skills.

Your activities will depend on whether you choose to study full-time, or combine this course with a volunteer or internship programme. Here are some of the activities you can expect to do on this Spanish Language Course:

  • Learn Spanish during tailored language classes
  • Explore Argentina and see some of the major sights
  • Volunteer or intern, if you choose to combine your lessons with another project

Learn Spanish during tailored language classes

You will spend a few hours each day with a professional language teacher. You can choose to focus on basic Spanish grammar, vocabulary, or conversation, whatever interests you. If you are volunteering or interning in Argentina, you may want to learn vocabulary and conversation skills relevant to your project, in order to help you communicate more effectively.

Classes will take place either at the Project Abroad offices, or at your host family’s home. Classes will be personalised and will go at your own pace. Depending on your level, you may be placed with two or three other students during classes.

Explore Argentina and see some of the major sights

There are lots of things to do in the city of Cordoba, and you will have time to explore in the evenings and on the weekends. The lush Sarmiento Park, ancient Jesuit Block, and Evita Fine Arts Museum are just a few must-sees!

Volunteer or intern, if you choose to combine your lessons with another project

If you choose to volunteer or intern during or after your course, most of your day will be spent out in the field. For example, if you do volunteer work with children in Argentina, you will help support early childhood development in disadvantaged childcare centres. Or, you could do a medical internship in Argentina, and learn directly from doctors in a busy hospital.

Location :
Typical Day

A typical day on this course will begin with a home-cooked breakfast with your host family, where you will have a chance to chat in Spanish about the day ahead. Your week will run from Monday to Friday, and you will have evenings and weekends off.

If you are an early riser, you may choose to have your lessons in the morning, and spend the rest of the day sightseeing or working on a project. You can also have your classes in the afternoons. Classes take place at your host family’s home or at the Projects Abroad offices. Occasionally, you may also have classes at a local cafe or park for a change of scenery.

Cordoba

You will be based in the city of Cordoba, and will live with a host family. Cordoba is the capital of the province by the same name, and boasts beautiful Spanish colonial architecture and a rich cultural history. Your Spanish classes take place in your host family’s home or at the Projects Abroad offices.

There are so many things to do and see in this exciting city, which is an eccentric mix of old and new. Visit beautiful cathedrals and churches, make a stop at the oldest university in South America, and make sure to drop in on some of the amazing museums, theaters, and parks the city has to offer. Sightseeing in your spare time will also give you the perfect opportunity to practice your Spanish with native speakers.

Food and accommodation

You’ll stay with a host family in Córdoba. They will welcome you into their home, eager to share their customs and have you teach them about your own culture. We believe that this is the best way to immerse yourself in the culture of Argentina and have a truly unique experience.

We will always try to let you live alongside at least one other Projects Abroad volunteer or intern at the same host family. Your room will be modest, but comfortable, clean, and safe.

Your programme fee includes three meals a day.

Free Time and Leisure Activities

Argentina is a vibrant South American country bursting with colour and rich heritage. Along with contributing to worthwhile projects, a trip with us to Argentina means you can explore this fascinating country.

Enjoying a coffee at the Plaza de San Martin, with its street performers and iconic statue of General Jose de San Martin, is the perfect way to spend an evening. It’s located in Cordoba, where our projects are based, so you don’t have to travel far for this experience.

For thrill seekers, you can take a weekend trip to La Cumbre where you can go paragliding off lofty cliffs. The surrounding nature is breathtaking and a horse ride around nature trails here is well worth it.

There are also enriching cultural experiences, like the Evita Fine Arts Museum or the Teatro del Libertador General San Martin. You can also learn more about the country’s history at local museums.

There will likely be other volunteers in Argentina with you. So you can choose to explore solo, or with a group of volunteers from different projects.
