This trip encompasses all things culture, history and food. If this sounds like your kind of trip, then a Food Tour in Cambodia is for you. This trip will focus on food and drink but it will also include detail into the history of the country and the impact it had on Cambodian delicacies and flavors. We’ll take you to explore markets, farms and fishing villages. There, you’ll learn about small businesses that depend on the resources provided by the Mekong River.

Our Food Tour in Cambodia is open to all foodies over the age of 18. Some of the activities planned require an average level of fitness but all the delicious food will be enough to fuel you through.

During your trip, you and your group will be living in shared accommodations. Use this opportunity to get to know your group over shared meals and late-night stories.

You’ll be collected directly from the airport and taken to your accommodation the moment you arrive in Cambodia. Depending on your arrival time, you can explore the city or just relax after a long trip.

After your whole group has arrived, you’ll get to enjoy a welcome dinner where you’ll get your first taste of traditional Cambodian cuisine. You’ll even get to try fried crickets, tarantulas and other bugs if you’re brave enough.

n the morning, you’ll be introduced to Cambodian cultural etiquette were you’ll learn some basic Khmer expressions that will come in handy during your trip. You’ll then head out to receive a traditional water blessing by monks at a local temple – a great way to start your trip.

After a filling lunch of rice, vegetables, beef and egg, you’ll go on a city tour. You’ll visit the Royal Palace and catch a glimpse of the Silver Pagoda with its impressive gold and jewelled Buddha statues. You’ll finish off the sight seeing with a walk through Wat Phnom Temple, the tallest religious structure in the city.

Now it’s time to try the street food. You’ll stop off at the Central Market where you’ll find everything from clothes and food to jewellery and furniture. Sample some of the snacks and dishes – fried banana is our favorite!

Once you’ve settled down for the evening, your group will watch a documentary on the Khmer Rouge Regime and how it influenced the way Cambodia is today.

• To understand food choices in Cambodia, you need to understand the country’s history under the Khmer Rouge Regime. An estimated two million people were killed during this time, with many suffering from starvation.

  The S21 Museum is the site of the S21 interrogation and detention center. It preserves a tragic period in history with the aim to encourage visitors to be messengers of peace.

  In the afternoon, you’ll visit Silk Island. It’s a remote community living on an island in the middle of the Mekong River. You’ll explore the farms and visit small business owners selling dried fish along the riverbanks. Here, you’ll learn how the Mekong sustains those living along it.

  After a long day out, you’ll sit down with your group to enjoy a BBQ dinner ad some karaoke. This is a popular meal and entertainment choice in Cambodia.

Early in the morning, you’ll travel to Kep. This town is famed for its soft shell crab and large selection of fresh seafood. You’ll get to visit the seafood market on stilts, collect seafood directly from cages and have them cooked fresh for a large lunch feast.

After lunch, you’ll travel towards Kampot and tour a local pepper farm in the Elephant Mountains. Kampot Pepper has the World Trade Organization’s geographical indicator (GI) status. It’s grown in red, black and white varieties. The tour will also describe cultivation techniques for other produce grown in this fertile region.

You’ll spend the day travelling to Siem Reap. It’s a long journey so you might want to rest or relax by the pool at the hotel.

In the evening, you’ll take part in a cooking class where you’ll learn how to cook a traditional Cambodian meal. Think Cambodian chicken curry or fish amok. After you’re done, you and your group can sit down and feast together before exploring the various night markets.

You’ll get to the temples early in the morning to capture the iconic sight on camera or simply be in the moment. The temples are a sight to behold and one of the highlights of your trip. You’ll spend the day exploring the impressive Angkor Wat and other main temples.

After a day of exploration, you’ll be treated to a dinner and an Apsara dance show. A large buffet will offer a wide range of Cambodian treats perfect for the adventurous foodie.

Of course, do not miss a final visit to the night market to get a vibe of the local trade. From enticing flavors to original-made local products, there is something for everyone here.
